  Kostel svatého Michala v Michalské ulici na Starém Městě byl vybudován na místě staršího románského kostela (z 2. poloviny 12. století) ve druhé polovině 14. století. Od roku 1627 byl v majetku řádu servítů, kteří zde od roku 1640 budovali konvent. Ve druhé polovině 18. století barokně přestavěn. V roce 1786 byl za josefinských reforem zrušen a adaptován na skladiště. V letech 1996–1998 podroben v mnoha ohledech problematické rekonstrukci, která objekt přizpůsobila novému využití. Pod názvem St. Michael´s Mystery se skrývala kýčovitá show, která měla turistům přiblížit české dějiny. Značnou částí veřejnosti byla tato „atrakce“ vnímána jako nevkusná a znesvěcující posvátný prostor někdejšího kostela. Nedostatek piety při nakládání s lidskými ostatky, řada sporných zásahů do historických konstrukcí, podkrovní restaurace, plátno kina na místě oltáře – to vše spolu s řadou dalších aspektů vytvořilo z případu Sv. Michal jednu z nejsmutnějších kauz přístupu k památkovému dědictví v naší moderní historii. The Church of St Michael in Michalská Street in the Old Town was built in the second half of the 14th century on the site of an older Romanesque church from the 2nd half of the 12th century. Since 1627 he has been in the possession of servíts who have been building a convention since 1640. In the second half of the 18th century it was rebuilt in baroque style. In 1786 (during the Josephine´s reforms) it was abolished and adapted as the warehouse. In 1996-1998, it underwent in many ways a problematic reconstruction that adapted the building to new uses. Under the name "St. Michael's Mystery" hides a kitsch show, which was meant to bring Czech history closer to the tourists. A significant part of the public was seen as an "incomparable and desecrating sacred space of a former church". The lack of piety in the handling of human remains, a number of controversial interventions in historic structures, the attic restaurant, the canvas of the cinema at the site of the altar - all along with many other aspects created from the Sv. Michal is one of the most sad cases of access to heritage in our modern history.
